Summer Morning Tunes

August 10, 2011 § 4 Comments

This morning the air is cool and being wrapped around a blanket is the perfect comfort. Packing and moving will consume a lot of my time these next few days. However, I wanted to share some music with you.

Madeleine Peyroux has a beautiful jazzy voice that just soothes the soul.

K’naan is a Canadian Somalian artist who is conscious of the world and translates his perspective through his music. There are so many more powerful lyrics in this hip-hop song. For example,

How did Mandela get the will to surpass the everyday

When injustice had him trapped and caged in every way?

How did Ghandi ever withstand the hunger strike and all?

Didn’t do it to gain money or power if I recall

Bump your shoulder along with this track.

I think about this music video at lease once every month. The Tree Ring hosted a house show with a cover charge of one table lamp.  Curious… please do watch.

A nod to all of the artists.
